Wide flanges or I-beams is a structural material most known for withstanding load with great resistance to bending, ideal for constructing homes, bridges, and other structures such as highway ramps and overpasses. Using I-beams is also a standard in constructing commercial buildings. As the name suggests, it resembles the shape of a letter I, formed by two parts: the web and the flanges. Flanges are the steel beams that are parallel to one another. Perpendicular to them, adjoining them together in the middle is called the Web.
